MARC CHAGALL
Aaron and the Seven-Branched Lampstand
from The Story of Exodus, 1966
Original colour lithograph by Marc Chagall from the celebrated biblical portfolio The Story of Exodus, published by Léon Amiel, New York, in 1966 and printed by Mourlot, Paris.
The present example depicts Aaron beside the sacred seven-branched lampstand (Menorah), one of the most visually iconic and spiritually charged compositions from the suite. Richly coloured with luminous yellows, blues and reds, the work exemplifies Chagall’s poetic treatment of biblical subjects.
